Here’s the debut track “Window Water Baby Moving” from up-and-coming producer FXXXYBLNT. The Manila-based producer seems to have immaculate production skills right off the bat. With this track, the producer effortlessly takes simple snippets of vocal samples and lays them across a backdrop of dripping beat work and a soothing soundscape. Its clean, clear-cut demeanor should not be confused with lack of creative complexity; its simple arrangements indeed reflect that of a well thought-out production. This track will be appearing on the producer’s upcoming debut EP, so be sure to keep an eye out for that.

FXXXYBLNT assumes his role with ethereal, slightly spooking approach, willing to make a statement in his uncompromising blend of post-R&B, bass music and chilled electronica. His debut single “Window Water Baby Moving” announces its own presence in such a laid-back fashion: blurry slice of vocal samples dripping over James Blake-meets-Timbaland warp-pop aesthetics, water-rippling sonics jumping in the air only to fizzle and fade, and some idiosyncratically unclassifiable moments that you’re not sure where in the vastness of celestial energies it sprang from.

Midnight Madness trip session commences now — crisp pops ebb and flow with the ether emulated by this experimental R&B/trip hop instrumental piece, encouraging you to just sit back and float away into some dreamscape of the collective consciousness. Right? We would recommend an activity to engage in whilst listening to this track, but we don’t think that is necessary. Happy Midnight.

Si creían que el chillwave en todas sus dimensiones estaba más que finiquitado, vuelvan a pensarlo. Ok, les acepto la disminución de éste en el último año, pero aún se pueden encontrar muy buenas cosas de vez en cuando. En esta oportunidad, no podía ser otro sino un asiático quien se aventura en un género casi cliché, consiguiendo un tema limpio y bastante sencillo que no desestima ser bailable al añadir samples r&b. FXXXYBLNT se integra -sin querer- a las filas de un hip-hop instrumental que se nutre de lo soft y el pop. No podría apostar mucho a por él (o ella) pues apenas es su primera canción fuera de los remixes, mas tampoco se puede ignorar. Por lo pronto nos deja algo lindo, fresco para estas vacaciones, y no queda otra más que agradecerlo.
